Extra Credit!

For two Quiz "Credits" you can watch the Lifetime show One Born Every Minute (Click here to watch it online) and then compare and contrast that show's representations of birthing and maternal care to our in class film The Business of Being Born.

Think about the following:

How does the show/movie construct women's bodies? women's health?
Whose interests and concerns are listened to or privileged? the doctors and nurses? the baby? the mother?
Who is portrayed as knowledgeable?
What/who is portrayed as strong?
How is birthing itself constructed? something to be feared, revered, peaceful?

Then, in roughly 500 words (450 or so would also be ok) discuss your comparisons and what it might mean for our understanding of women's health.

This EC opportunity expire on March 16th at 11:59.
